Bluefire Mobile Security® VPN Now Offers Users the Most Comprehensive Gateway Support

Version 2.7.5 builds on Cisco and Nortel support and adds leading concentrators including Juniper NetScreen & Secure Computing Sidewinder

Baltimore, MD (February 4, 2008) – Bluefire, the leading provider of mobile and wireless security software, today announced availability of the Bluefire Mobile Security® VPN version 2.7.5, including support for Juniper NetScreen and the Secure Computing Sidewinder concentrators. With the addition of these gateways, Bluefire now offers mobile users more VPN gateway support than any other mobile VPN client on the market.

Bluefire’s VPN provides enterprises, government users, and OEMs with a secure connection for data-in-transit. Deployed internationally, Bluefire VPN customers include Nestle Brazil; Palm, Inc.; the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; and the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston. Bluefire customers have deployed the VPN to remotely access confidential documents on the corporate network including inventories, customer information, and corporate email.

“With extensive gateway support and advanced ease-of-use, Bluefire is the ideal solution for enterprises, government, and OEMs seeking to secure their mobile data-in-transit,” said Bluefire CEO, Mark Komisky.

New features in Version 2.7.5 include:

  • Authentication Enhancements. Bluefire’s VPN now offers more authentication options for administrators.
  • Supports certificate authentication and group authentication.
  • Provides Dead Peer Detection.

  • Ease-of-Use. Version 2.7.5 was designed to create a more convenient, user-friendly experience for both administrators and end-users.
  • Administrators can allow users to save their password, eliminating the need to enter it every time they connect to the concentrator.
  • Allows users to auto-launch an application upon tunnel setup.

  • Latest Smartphone Support. Version 2.7.5 supports the new Windows Mobile 6 OS-based devices including: T-Mobile Dash, Motorola Q9, Pantech Duo, HTC Tilt, and the Palm Treo 750.

  • Large-Scale Deployments. Bluefire’s VPN can prompt the user for domain information, adding to the features that assist large organizations in meeting their security requirements.

“Bluefire is aiming to meet the needs of the broadest range of mobile professionals and enterprises with the release of version 2.7.5. These new features, including the added concentrator support, are direct results of customer and partner requests,” said Komisky.
