Bluefire Expands Security Coverage To Meet Global Customer Demands
Bluefire Mobile Security® VPN is first mobile IPSec VPN to receive rigorous ICSA Labs Certification
BALTIMORE, MD (March 3, 2008) – Bluefire, the leading provider of mobile and wireless security software, today announced its Bluefire Mobile Security® VPN is the first mobile IPSec VPN (internet protocol security virtual private network) to receive IPSec 1.2 certification from ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon Business.
To achieve the ICSA Labs’ certification, Bluefire’s VPN was vigorously tested, assessed and validated in a simulated, real-world environment. By expanding gateway coverage, Bluefire customers now have more flexibility and assurance when deploying their mobile solution. With large, multinational customers, like Nestle Brazil, who may use multiple gateways throughout the organization, Bluefire allows them to secure data-in-transit with one mobile VPN client. Bluefire’s broad concentrator coverage now meets the needs of small and medium businesses to large enterprises worldwide.
“Bluefire’s ICSA Labs’ certification demonstrates our VPN’s ability to meet stringent standards set by an internationally recognized third party,” said Mark Komisky, Bluefire’s CEO. “By broadening hardware support, we are giving customers more options that will allow their organizations to expand deployments globally.”
“As hardware vendors make new updates to their products, Bluefire will continue to test its VPN products with ICSA Labs, giving our customers the peace of mind that their data-in-transit will remain safe even on the latest hardware,” continued Komisky.
“We are pleased that specialized vendors like Bluefire are seeking ICSA Labs’ certification,” said George Japak, managing director, ICSA Labs. “As the first mobile VPN solution to seek and receive the 1.2 certification, Bluefire is demonstrating there is a demand from customers that its mobile data-in-transit platform meets some of the highest of security standards.”
The ICSA Labs’ IPsec VPN certification program is an independent and comprehensive process that rigorously tests, assesses and validates mobile, client and gateway VPNs in a simulated, real-world environment. Testing criteria are publicly posted for review and comment by industry groups, industry experts and end users.
ICSA Labs continually updates the certification requirements to combat constantly evolving threats. Recent updates include improvements to functional, security and cryptographic requirements. Additional changes target issues with logging, certificate management and validation, configuration persistence and client requirements.
