Bluefire Security Technologies Releases VPN Software Development Kit
Product Allows Integrators to Incorporate Secure VPN Connectivity Into Mobile Applications
Baltimore, MD September 27, 2005 — Bluefire Security Technologies, Inc., a developer of security solutions designed for mobile handheld devices, has announced the availability of the Bluefire Mobile Security® VPN Software Development Kit in response to growing demand from enterprises and software integrators for an efficient way to combine secure remote access with mobile applications.
“Mobile handheld security is no longer an afterthought – it is an essential and critical component of every mobile application,” explained Bluefire CEO Mark Komisky. “With our new Mobile Security® VPN Software Development Kit, developers can now confidently build the security of the Bluefire Mobile Security® VPN into virtually any mobile application – from voice over IP to remote corporate e-mail access – and make it invisible to end-users. “The Bluefire VPN Development Kit’s API, device drivers, dynamically linked library (DLL) and Ipsec-compliant VPN allow for fast, low cost development of mobile applications, and for easy, “auto-launch” deployment with the client application,” Komisky explained. Bluefire recently utilized the Mobile Security® VPN Software Development Kit to embed a VPN into a primary application for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Bluefire Mobile Security® VPN Software Development Kit is compatible with both Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 operating systems, and includes an API to support VPN control and status retrieval and notification operations. The Kit includes three components.
- The Development Kit includes header files, API documentation and reference implementation for testing, and offers InstallShield™ extractor installation on the development platform.
- A VPN Driver installs a binary package via a .cab file with the customer’s VPN application, while an API DLL provides a number of user-friendly functions, including log in to, and retrieval of, policy store session status, registration of connection status callback, establishment and disconnection of the VPN tunnel, and retrieval of connection statistics.
- An optional VPN Client application, installed via a .cab file, can be used to configure connection settings.
