Bluefire Security Addresses Handheld Device Risk at Two December 4 Conferences

Tom Goodman, Bluefire Security Vice President of Operations, in tandem with Seth Fogie, Vice President of Airscanner Corp., will review the security threat created by employees connecting their personal handheld devices to corporate networks. Unsecured employee-owned handhelds leave corporate networks vulnerable to data theft, malicious code attacks and unauthorized access.
The two presenters will review the key security implications of employee-owned handhelds, including legal and support liabilities as well as best and worst security practices. They will also present several plausible methods of attack and share tools and techniques for keeping devices secure and free of malicious code attacks.

Tom Goodman
Tom Goodman is Bluefire Security’s vice president of operations and a representative to CTIA’s Wireless Internet Caucus Leadership Council. Prior to joining Bluefire, Goodman was the director of security and risk management for Aether Systems, where he was responsible for both internal and client security issues and was the co-leader of Aether’s Homeland Security initiatives. A 20-year security veteran, Goodman has held several other senior management positions throughout his career, covering policy, technology and national defense.
Eric Maiwald
Eric Maiwald is the director of product management and support for Bluefire Security. Maiwald has over fifteen years of experience in information security where he has worked as a security officer and consultant for large financial institutions, health care providers, services firms and manufacturers. He has extensive experience in the security field performing assessments, policy development, architecture design and product implementations.
